Multi-level simulation environment for Reconfigurable Scan Networks

Reconfigurable Scan Networks (RSNs) are deeply sequential structures that consist of many scan registers, scan multiplexers as well as configuration registers. This results in very high costs for their simulation at low level such as gate level simulation or timing simulations. In this work, we investigate a new simulation environment that uses different levels of abstraction during simulation. The faster CSU abstraction level is used to reach the desired configuration in the RSN and then a lower abstraction level is used only to simulate effects that require this high level of detail. The possibility of expanding the environment to investigate delay faults and timing failures will be discussed.
